2012 Kawasaki W800 Special Edition Review
Dark and interesting, the W800 Special Edition mixes matt and gloss black surfaces with gold anodised style rims, detail features and subtle highlights into an intoxicating cocktail.
Back to the future, the new W800 Special Edition delivers a classic blend of retro style with up the minute technology. Drawing fans of all ages, the quality and W heritage of the air-cooled parallel twin shine through.
Classic Beauty + Vintage Ride Feel + Historic Roots
The W800 Special Edition is the result of a thorough pursuit of the beauty and ride feel posessed by vintage notorcycles.
It offers a rare beauty care of components meticulously crafted down to the smallest detail, as well as a feeling of authentic quality that can only come from using metal parts. The throb of the air-cooled Vertical Twin engine and the distinct handling character that comes with large-diameter wheels recalls the ride feel of machines from an older generation, gone but not forgotten.
The W800 Special Edition, in both looks and feel, pays homage to Kawasaki's legendary W1, the model that started a brand that spans 45 years.

2012 Kawasaki W800 Special Edition Features and Benefits
All the great features of the W800 plus:
Wheel rims - Gold style anodising, just one subtle way the W800 Special Edition stands apart from the crowd

Black engine parts - Contrast and compare. The W800 Special Edition shines thanks to a black engine and clever highlights
Matt black exhaust - Talk softly, but speak strong. Cool matt black exhausts sound good and add subtle streetwise character.

Emblem on tank - The look of love. Every time you look down you can see the unique Kawasaki Special Edition logo

Vertical Twin Rich in Character
The W800 Special Edition produces loads of feel-good pulse from the Vertical Twin engine displacing 773cm3. The strong low-mid range torgue enhances the unhurried pleasure of the vintage ride.

Electronic Fuel Injection
The W800 Special Edition features a fuel injection system that does not take away from the vintage look of the motorcycle.

Historic Roots
The W800 Special Edition is the latest model in a brand that spans 45 years with Kawasaki's original W1 debuting in 1966. It was the largest displacement Japanese model of its time.

Metal...Not Plastic!
Metal parts are used in favour of plastic throughout the W800 Special Edition. Corrosion-resistant parts have also been used to ensure lasting beauty.
Large Diameter Wheels
The 19" front and 18" rear wheels add to the classic appearance of the W800 Special Edition. The 19" front provides that classic handling feel with a fine balance of relaxed, light turning and straight line stability.
Seat

Long, comfortable seat with thick, ribbed padding has plenty of room for rider and passenger. Urethane at the front of the seat is shaped to facilitate the reach to the ground. Piping around the edge of the seat follows the line between the rider and passenger's legs to ensure it does not cut into the rider's thighs when at a halt.
Details

As much as possible, plastic was eschewed in favour of metal. The result is a feeling of authentic quality that can only be obtained from the solid feel of metal parts.
"W" styling

Voluptuous fuel tank finished in high-quality paint contributes to the W800 Special Edition's aura of functional elegance.
Newly designed tank emblems, finished in chrome, contribute to the high quality appearance.
Adjustable levers

5-way adjustable clutch lever and 4-way adjustable brake lever enable riders to fine-tune lever span.
Front brake

Single 300 mm front disc brake offers sure stopping power.
Large headlamp

Large headlamp is offset wonderfully by the speedometer and tachometer and simple console.
Elegant muffler design

Simple, elegant muffler design comprises smooth curves and long, straight lines.
Peashooter-style silencers with slim chambers and long tailpipes add a vintage touch.
Instrumentation

Traditional instrumentation includes individual speedometer and tachometer with classic display. A multi-function LCD screen incorporates an odometer, tripmeter, and clock. A full range of indicator lamps includes an FI warning lamp, dual turn signal indicators, low fuel level indicator, high beam indicator, neutral indicator, and oil pressure warning lamp.
Classic-styled Engine

"Building a beautiful engine" was a key concept when designing the air-cooled Vertical Twin. The classic-styled engine is lightweight, simple and a joy to behold. Iconic bevel-gear-driven cam adds beauty to the cylinder head while contributing to the engine's classical appearance.
Rear shock absorbers

Dual rear shock absorbers, adjustable for spring preload, offer a smooth ride and clean look.
Traditionally styled front fork

Traditionally styled front fork uses rubber gaitors to protect the fork tubes and ensure long fork seal life. Outer tubes have a buffed finish, which contributes to the light looking front end.

2012 Kawasaki Z750 Review
Perfect Balance
The 2012 Z750 combines great street performance and aggressive styling. Specially designed for high-level street riding, this new-age street-fighter offers a perfect balance of engine and chassis performance. A broad and meaty powerband delivers hard-hitting acceleration over a smooth and linear torque curve, while the slim chassis delivers quick and nimble cornering performance. The Z750's suspension settings and tyres are tuned to deliver rider-responsive handling characteristics over a wide range of road surfaces and riding conditions. In fact, this well-balanced performance envelope is the Z750's most noteworthy characteristic. Offering just the right amount of power in a responsive and sharp-looking package, the Z750 just may be the best balanced machine of the new model year.

2012 Kawasaki Z750 Features and Benefits
Sharp Handling
A slim and compact chassis gives the Z750 superb manoeuvrability and precise handling. Upgrades to cope with the demands of sports riding include a re-positioned steering head and a 41mm inverted fork dramatically increasing feel and ride quality.
Sensitive Chassis
The great handling chassis delivers superb rider feedback thanks to the stiffness balance. In addition, the relationship between the seat, handlebar and footpeg further enhances communications between rider and machine.

Sensual Power
The liquid-cooled, 748 cm³, 16-valve, in-line four has been re-tuned for improved acceleration and overtaking power. Reconfigured intake ports, new cam profiles and other changes to the intake system result in a flatter mid-range torque curve.
Enhanced low-mid Performance
The stylish short-style silencer with tri-ovular cross-section has been reworked internally using latest technologies to ‘tune' back-pressure waves for enhanced response in the low-mid range.

Aggressive Styling
Aggressive, aerodynamically styled front and side cowls add to the Z750's already muscular appearance, further accentuating its powerful ‘street fighter' attitude.
Superb Suspension
The 41 mm inverted fork provides a smooth action in the top half of the stroke, complemented by firmer damping in the bottom half. This produces the feeling of a long-stroke suspension initially, followed by a solid, planted feel in corners. Ultimately, this makes the bike both easier to ride and better performing.

Huge Stoppers
Just like our Ninja supersport machines, the Z750 boasts triple petal disc brakes providing superb stopping power with reduced unsprung weight and improved heat dissipation.

Comprehensive Instrumentation
Comprehensive instrumentation gives at-a-glance information to the rider via an analogue-style tachometer, complemented by an LCD display with digital speedometer, odometer, tripmeter, water temp, fuel gauge, clock, and more.

2012 Kawasaki Versys 650 Review
Built with All Your Adventures in Mind
Q. What is an excellent bike for commuting on the superslab, weekend jaunts over canyon roads or just overall riding fun? A: The Kawasaki Versys®. Introduced to acclaim from both the motorcycling press and the public a few years ago, the Versys was named "Motorcycle of the Year" by Motorcyclist magazine and placed on numerous top 10 lists in enthusiast publications. This solidly built multi-purpose tool will have you searching for more reasons to ride and more roads to explore.
The Versys’ powerband will quickly silence the skeptics who think that a 649cc parallel-twin engine can't pump out this much power. Aggressive styling complements the Versys' dynamic flexibility and strength, and an adjustable windscreen accommodates a variety of riders. To add to rider comfort while in the saddle, rubber bushings on the rear engine mounts and hollow rubber inserts atop the footpegs help to isolate the rider’s feet from engine vibration, resulting in a smoother, more relaxed ride.
The Versys’ compact, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 649cc, parallel-twin engine was the perfect powerplant for this light and nimble do-anything bike right from the start: it’s lively enough for advanced riders and predictable enough to inspire confidence in rank novices. The torquey twin delivers a deep ribbon of power in the lower and middle parts of its rev range, making the Versys a great commuter and relaxed traveling companion. Its surprising genius becomes readily apparent once the roads turn twisty, because despite its comfort and civility, the fun-to-ride Versys also offers genuine sportbike handling and excellent fuel economy. With its big, 5-gallon fuel tank you can go a long way between fill-ups.

Long-travel high-tech suspension is critical to the Versys’ multi-role mission. A Showa rear shock with two-stage damping firms up progressively as the wheel moves through its stroke, providing an initially plush ride that firms to near-sportbike levels as suspension loads escalate. The bike’s short, compact engine makes it possible to use a longer than average gull-wing swingarm to reduce throttle-induced suspension movement and excellent handling. A dual-sport-inspired, adjustable 41mm tapered-tube inverted fork soaks up bumps big and small, and like the rear end, firms up nicely as the pace increases.
Absolutely key to the Versys’ success is a comfortable, carefully designed cockpit that provides a mostly upright, natural seating position and features a stepped seat constructed to provide optimum comfort for both rider and passenger. The comfort theme is further enhanced by the adjustable windscreen, which offers three different positions. An easy-to-read and informative instrument panel allows riders to quickly scan the gauges and keep their eyes on the road. Possibly the most versatile motorcycle out there, the Versys excels at almost any task it’s given, from gridlock traffic jams to canyon carving to long-distance touring.

2012 Kawasaki Versys 650 ABS
Bike of many talents
The Versys ABS refuses to be restricted to any one classification. Why? … Because it’s great at so many things! Long travel suspension for outstanding around-town manoeuvrability, highly comfortable riding position for long-distance comfort, sharp handling with excellent road holding, smooth power delivery with high levels of usability – the Versys ABS really delivers on so many levels.
The ideal motorcycle for commuting around town through the week and covering large distances on the weekend, the Versys ABS is a highly talented performer indeed.

2012 Kawasaki Versys 650 Features and Benefits

• A semi-dry sump oil system reduces overall engine height
• The narrow, chrome composite-plated aluminum cylinders help reduce engine width
• Tuned to deliver smooth, responsive power in the low
• to mid-rpm range for exceptional roll-on response – ideal for negotiating city traffic, tight backroads and anything in between
• A 180-degree crankshaft and a balancer shaft produce a remarkably smooth engine
• Oil jets on the connecting rod ends spray oil on the undersides of the pistons to aid cooling
• An under-engine muffler with 3-way catalyzer aids mass centralization for light handling and great looks

Liquid Cooling
• Engine temperatures stay consistent for long engine life and sustained power in tough conditions
• Closer engine tolerances mean more horsepower
• Coolant routed through the engine cases reduces the number of external hoses

Digital Fuel Injection (DFI®)
• A pair of 38mm Keihin throttle bodies with ECU-controlled sub-throttle valves mean optimum performance and rideability
• Sub-throttles, located behind the main throttle valves, give the Versys precise throttle response and great feel as well
• An automatic fast idle system makes starting and warm-up easy, even on cold days
• Precise fuel injection provides great fuel mileage, and the 3-way catalyzer significantly reduces emissions

Digital Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI) System
• Microprocessor-controlled timing never requires adjustment and is ultra-responsive to the engine’s needs
• Powerful, spark plug-mounted “stick” ignition coils are compact, light and reliable

Six-speed Transmission
• Versys’ racing-style cassette transmission uses a compact layout that’s easily removable as a single unit from the engine cases for much easier gearbox maintenance

High-tensile Steel Trellis Frame
• The Versys’ exotic-looking trellis frame is small, light and narrow at the knees and pegs for excellent comfort and control
• 3D computer analysis in the design process achieved optimum stiffness balance for superior ride and handling

Single Shock Rear Suspension
• A distinctive aluminum gull-wing swingarm controlled by a lay-down single shock complements the distinctive frame design, with an integrated line flowing from steering head to rear hub
• The short, compact frame and engine design allow the swingarm to be longer, which improves overall handling
• The Showa shock has adjustable preload and rebound damping, and uses a free piston and two-stage damping valves for smooth action during initial compression that becomes firmer near the end of the stroke for a more planted feel

Long-travel Fork
• A 41mm long-travel inverted fork combines the best of dual-sport and sportbike-type suspensions, to deliver excellent performance over a wide range of conditions
• Tapered, relatively short outer tubes help provide the ideal stiffness balance to complement frame stiffness and chassis settings
• Fork height, spring preload and rebound damping can be adjusted to fine-tune the suspension to specific conditions, riding styles and loads

Petal-style Brake Discs
• Dual 300mm petal-style discs with two-piston calipers in front and a single 220mm petal disc with a single-piston caliper in back provide plenty of stopping power
• Same rotor design as found on the Ninja® supersport machines; petal design rotors offer improved cooling and warp resistance

Six-spoke Wheels • Like the ones you’ll find on the Ninja ZX™-6R and ZX-10R, these six-spoke wheels use less material between spokes so rim thickness is reduced along with overall wheel weight
• Lighter wheels increase overall performance – suspension, handling, acceleration/deceleration and initial turn-in

Comfortable Ergonomics
• Each section of the two-piece seat was designed with a different thickness and firmness of foam to optimize comfort for both rider and passenger
• The passenger seat and grab bars were designed to provide a natural seating position for added comfort
• An easy-to-read instrument panel has a large analog tachometer and digital readout for the speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer, dual trip meters and clock. White LED backlighting provides increased visibility at night
• Passenger grab rails, seat cover material, and a comfortable seating position make the Versys fun for passengers
• Rubber bushings at the rear engine mounts and hollow rubber-covered footpegs result in reduced engine vibration and a more comfortable ride

Bodywork
• The fairing, stacked dual headlight, front fender and mirrors, and a Z1000-style LED tail light give the Versys a bold high-tech look
• The windscreen provides a large still-air pocket for comfort; three-position adjustability makes it adaptable to fit a variety of riders and climates

2012 Kawasaki ER-6n Review
Feel the beat of the city
Ride to a different rhythm and stay in tune with your passion to arrive on time and in style. Welcome the new ER-6n into your world and transform cross-city travelling from negative need to positive want.

2012 Kawasaki ER-6n ABS
Contemporary design any rider will love
The ER-6n ABS is at the very cutting edge of contemporary design, with bold angles and sensuous lines that scream attitude at every curve. But don’t be fooled by this motorcycle’s aggressive looks - the ER-6n ABS is highly accessible to riders of all ages and abilities.
Its compact chassis/engine combination, ideal rider ergonomics and impressive but controllable performance make the ER-6n ABS an extremely user-friendly motorcycle with enough sass to put a smile on any rider’s face.

2012 Kawasaki ER-6n Features and Benefits
All-new double-pipe perimeter-style frame
Like on its predecessor, the all-new double-pipe perimeter-style frame is a key component of the ER-6n’s identity. As before, the new bodywork accentuates the frame, rather than hiding it. The double-pipe design of the new frame, made from high-tensile steel, contributes to the bike’s lightweight appearance.

Taller fuel tank
The fuel tank is 20 mm taller, helping to visually concentrate the ER-6n’s mass at the front of the bike. The rear of the tank slopes back in a straight line to the seat.

Lighter Handling
The rigidity balance of the double-pipe frame and swingarm contributes to a lighter, easier handling package. Rigid-mount engine is a stressed member, contributing to the frame’s idealised rigidity balance.
The swingarm’s new double-pipe design makes use of a D-section tube (upper right tube) for optimal rigidity. Revised suspension has longer stroke front and rear, offering both sporty handling and enhanced comfort. Rear shock length and stroke are 2 mm longer; front fork is 15 mm longer with 5 mm longer stroke to match the rear. The longer strokes enable lower spring rates. Damping has been revised accordingly.

More torque in every day range
Under-engine muffler with larger volume and revised internal construction delivers increased torque in the everyday range below 7,000 rpm. The increased performance facilitates control at lower rpm and contributes to the enhanced enjoyment of the new ER-6n.

Intake ducts through frame tubes
Intake ducts extend through the frame tubes to ensure a source of cool fresh air for the engine. This also contributes to the induction note, adding to rider excitement.

New instruments
To enable the more compact front area, the instrument cluster was moved as far back as possible. It is mounted above the handlebar.

A stacked instrument cluster features an easier-to-read layout and an analogue-style tachometer uses white LED backlights for excellent visibility at night. The multi-function LCD screen has blue backlighting. In addition to the fuel gauge, digital speedometer, clock, odometer and dual trip meters, new features include: remaining range, average/instant fuel consumption and the Economical Riding Indicator.

Raised tick marks on the tachometer dial face, a bubble lens and elevated instrument frame construction contribute to the instrumentation’s greater legibility as well as a high-quality image.

Optional ABS
Compact new ABS unit has a more advanced processor that enables more precise ABS control.

Euro-III Compliant
The combination of efficient fuel injection and a 3-way catalyser inside the muffler result in low emissions. Revised muffler internal construction and catalyser layout ensure clean emissions that will pass stringent Euro-III regulations.

More compact headlamp
More compact headlamp shroud is shorter front to back, and designed to make it look slimmer vertically as well – an image reinforced by the smoked instrument visor. Angular design of the stacked dual headlamp helps maintain the identity of the ER-6n while contributing to the sharp new street-fighter style looks.

Compact, quick-revving engine with stronger low-mid range
The ER-6n’s Parallel Twin engine configuration was chosen as the best balance of good power characteristics and compact size. Engine tuning delivered both a rider-friendly character ideal for new riders and performance to put a smile on the faces of more experienced motorcyclists. The engine’s compact size was one of the keys to realising the ER-6n’s slim package. The 2012 engine offers more low-mid range torque for more fun and greater usability in everyday riding situations, while maintaining the smooth, high-revving character of its predecessor.

Increased Comfort
Sporty looking tandem seat with thick cushioning ensures good passenger comfort.
Ergonomic passenger grips are positioned to make them easy for tandem riders to grab. Good passenger confidence makes it easier for riders when carrying a pillion.

Seat bracket is rubber-mounted at the front to reduce vibration transfer.

New swingarm
Following the lines of the frame and rear shock, the swingarm also features the new double-pipe design, complementing the design of the frame and contributing to the ER-6n’s high-quality appearance. The swingarm’s gull-arm style design on the right side enables the more aggressive angle of the muffler.

Revised shrouds
Revised shrouds are narrower when viewed from the front. Front turn signals, previously built-in to the shrouds, are mounted on the headlamp shroud. quality appearance.
Sharper tail cowl
Sharper tail cowl is 10 mm shorter, helping to move volume away from the rear of the bike. A sharper new LED taillight contributes to the slimmer look.

Rearshock
An offset laydown rear single-shock suspension flows smoothly from the frame to the swingarm.

2012 Kawasaki W800 Review
Back to the future, the new W800 delivers a classic blend of retro style with up the minute technology. Drawing fans of all ages, the quality and W heritage of the air-cooled parallel twin shine through.
Classic Beauty + Vintage Ride Feel + Historic Roots
The W800 is the result of a thorough pursuit of the beauty and ride feel posessed by vintage notorcycles.
The W800, in both looks and feel, pays homage to Kawasaki's legendary W1, the model that started a brand that spans 45 years.
Classic Beauty

Beautiful Appearance Care of Meticulously Sculpted Forms-Visual impact from air-cooled Vertical Twin engine with iconic bevel-gear- driven-cam- Classic image from well-balanced chassis with large-diameter wheels- Meticulous attention to detail- Simple yet elegant muffler design
Metal Parts
Add Radiance and Authentic Quality- Metal parts used in favour of plastic throughout- Deep chrome and buffed engine covers add to high-quality finish- Even small parts are formed of blacked-out aluminium- Corrosion-resistant parts ensure lasting beauty.
Vintage Ride Feel
Vertical Twin Engine Rich in Character- Loads of feel-good pulse from an engine displacing 773 cm3 - Unique pulse care of a 360° crankshaft- Maximum torque at 2,500 rpm- Strong low-mid range torque enhances unhurried pleasure of a Vintage Ride- Heavy flywheel contributes to the strong torque feeling in the low-mid range- Now with fuel injection.

2012 Kawasaki W800 Features and Benefits
Vertical Twin Rich in Character
The W800 produces loads of feel-good pulse from the Vertical Twin engine displacing 773cm3. The strong low-mid range torgue enhances the unhurried pleasure of the vintage ride.

Electronic Fuel Injection
The W800 features a fuel injection system that does not take away from the vintage look of the motorcycle.

Historic Roots
The W800 is the latest model in a brand that spans 45 years with Kawasaki's original W1 debuting in 1966. It was the largest displacement Japanese model of its time.

Metal...Not Plastic!
Metal parts are used in favour of plastic throughout the W800. Corrosion-resistant parts have also been used to ensure lasting beauty.
Large Diameter Wheels
The 19" front and 18" rear wheels add to the classic appearance of the W800.

"W" styling

Voluptuous fuel tank finished in high-quality paint contributes to the W800's aura of functional elegance.
