Winner on the track ,leader on the street

YZF-R6 WGP 50th Anniversary
By racing and winning at the highest level for over 50 years, Yamaha has been able to develop advanced new performance-enhancing technologies for our street bikes. Features like the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) and slipper clutch were first developed on our factory race machines. And it is this MotoGP-inspired technology that gives the YZF-R6 the edge – whether it’s being powered along a twisty mountain road or being raced in the World Supersport Championship. To celebrate half-a-century of success, the latest YZF-R6 is offered with our exclusive new red, white and black 50th Anniversary colours. Ride with the winners. Ride YZF-R6!

WGP 50th Anniversary Colours

Based on the famous ‘speedblock’ design that was made famous by Yamaha’s Grand Prix race bikes in the 60s, 70s and 80s, the exclusive new 50th Anniversary red, white and black colour scheme gives the radical R6 a real race-bred look to underline its unrivalled racing heritage.

Compact short-wheelbase die-cast Deltabox chassis

To achieve an idealised balance of rigidity for agile and responsive handling performance, the R6 is equipped with a die-cast Deltabox chassis which has been developed using MotoGP know-how. With a short wheelbase of only 1,380mm and 97mm trail, this ultra-compact chassis gives the R6 its legendary razor-sharp handling.

Racing-style slipper clutch

Another example of how MotoGP benefits our street bikes is the slipper clutch. The advanced design has been tested and perfected on our racing bikes and it allows the R6 rider to achieve smoother downshifting for more effective corner entry.

Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake (YCC-I) and Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T)

The Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake system features electronically-controlled intake funnels whose length is constantly adjusted to suit engine speed. Working with the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle, this high-tech intake system delivers efficient combustion for smooth and linear power output.

EXUP Exhaust System

Another example of how Yamaha’s race-bred technology benefits R6 riders is the EXUP exhaust. This unique design features an electronically-controlled valve which instantaneously adjusts exhaust gas flows to match the engine speed. By constantly ‘tuning’ the exhaust’s internal diameter, the EXUP system delivers smoother and more efficient performance.

Compact ‘mass-forward’ bodywork

Take a look at an R6 from any angle and you’ll soon see that its ultra-compact bodywork gives it an aggressive, ‘crouching forward’ stance. By concentrating the bike’s major components around the bike’s centre of gravity, our designers have created a sharp-handling machine which changes direction and attacks corners like no other 600.
