Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic review

Following the path forged by the original Vulcan 1500 cruiser design, the Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic continues to provide riders an experience thats hard to forget. Its good looks materialize in the form of a low, sleek chassis matched with equally impressive V-twin power are without a doubt a big part of this successful motorcycles. At the center of this exciting bike is a 95 cubic inch Vtwin engine generating plenty of low end torque and supplying the Kawasaki 1600 Vulcan Classic with more than enough power for just about anything its rider chooses to do. Extra power is nice for playtime, but when a plan calls for extended seat-time, the single pin crankshaft and a gear-driven counter balancer work together to provide a comforting rhythm without those harsh vibrations.

The fuel injected 1552ccm Kawasaki responds more readily and consistently when cold. The drive train, which has a final drive, has a bit more lash than the Road Star. The Vulcan 1600 makes less mechanical noise than previous big Vulcans or the Road Star. With 2 such similar big V-twin flagships entering the market so close together, it seems natural to ask how the two similarly sized motorcycles stack up. Here in a nutshell are what we see as the important considerations. Other features of the engine follow tradition for the big Vulcans. Each cylinder has four valves with 2 springs apiece and a single overhead cam. Hydraulic adjusters set valve-train lash automatically. The induction system retains the dual airbox configuration, with one air filter on each side of the engine. The fuel injection system has been remapped and now gets gas from a reconfigured pump. The pump`s more vertical orientation prevents starvation under braking or acceleration. Kawasaki pioneered air injection to reduce exhaust emissions, and this bike uses the engine control unit to precisely control the air control valve for greater effect.
