Suzuki SV1000 review

Although the Suzuki SV1000 utilizes the same engine as prior 1000cc v-twin Suzuki plenty of new technology was thrown at this motor for use in the SV series. Suzuki describes the 90 degree v-twin in the SV as thoroughly evolved and refined. Compared to the TL1000S, intake valves have gone from 41mm to 37mm in size, providing a big boost in mid-range and low-end power without much sacrifice in top-end power. The fuel injected SV is fed by Suzuki dual throttle valve system controlled by a 32 bit CPU. The SV1000 is designed to create a new class, the fun machine, according to the blurb.

This bike is aimed at the rider who likes to have fun on the road. With the Euro2 emissions laws about to come into force, the bikes we rode were in Euro-spec, complete with catalytic converters and O2-sensors. It is no surprise that the Suzuki SV 1000engine is based on the TL1000S, but Suzuki technical staff quote some 300 changes from the old engine to the new one - and some are pretty major. The new SV engine gets a lot of detail changes that add up to big differences. Lighter internals give freer revs, while modified throttle bodies allow more space for the airbox and better breathing as a result. Up front, the twin headlights bear more than a passing resemblance to the Buell Firebolt, but with the power on, the widely spaced side-lights make it more akin to Yamaha R6. More specs and user manual of Suzuki sv-1000 you can see in next overview.
