BMW will debut the ActiveHybrid 5 at the Tokyo Motor show on November 30.
The ActiveHybrid 5 is the hybrid variant of the BMW 5-Series and features a 3.0 liter inline six-cylinder twin-turbo engine with 306 PS (225 kW / 302 hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque coupled to a 56 PS (40 kW / 55 hp) electric motor that adds another 155 lb-ft (210 Nm) of torque. The electric motor is embedded in the housing for the eight-speed automatic transmission.
Combined output is configured at 340 PS (250 kW / 335 hp) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque and that makes the car good for a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 5.9 seconds. Fuel-economy is rated at 6.4 liters/100 km (44 mpg imperial).
The ActiveHybrid 5 is expected go on sale in the spring 2012 in the United States.
