KTM 690 SMR review


The KTM 690 SMR is designed for riders wanting the purest form of road going competitonbased super moto. Features such as the intricate, adjustable suspension elements, radially-mounted Brembo 4-piston calipers with 4 single linings, the radial hand brake cylinder and super-sporty Dunlop tyres - emphasise the high KTM standards and make the KTM SM 690R a full-fledged sport motorcycle. A tubular space frame construction of premium chrome molybdenum, with the engine functioning as a load-bearing element. The sub frame is made of very high-strength aluminium profiles. Specially optimised for Supermoto, the 48mm upsidedown forks from WP with a central wheel axle clamp and a suspension travel of 210mm can be tuned with rebound damping and compression.

The sport derived exhaust system layout, with its comparatively silencers and long manifolds, makes a substantial contribution to the performance of this single-cylinder. But lots of power also means lots of noise emission. One regulated catalytic converter per silencer guarantees the effortless compliance with the applicable EURO 3 pollutant emissions limits.
